Tied Hands

If there are no such things as stupid questions why doesn’t anyone bother to reply?
Are they thinking too hard?
Perhaps they don’t want to give a stupid answer,
And those are in large supply.

The world can’t be black and white,
You need colors to paint,
Black is a shade while white is a tint,
They are used only to taint.

An uphill battle is one fought long and hard with casualties that cost,
But a battle going downhill is one as good as lost.
Why are soldiers called brave when they kill?
If murder is wrong and against God’s Will?

Looks aren’t everything but first impressions are,
The mark of success is wealth and whether the person owns a car.
Skating by on your looks is bad,
But if you don’t scrutinize your appearance carefully you’re pathetic,
Sad.

Happy endings are cliché and not worth reading,
So am I wrong for wanting happiness, my contented sigh?
Because we have enough tragedies in real life,
And I don’t like to cry.

No one likes their flaws and insecurities being picked apart,
Yet people call that ‘constructive criticism,’
Those are the people who have ‘our best interests’ at heart?

Seeing the glass half-full is optimistic but stupid.
Seeing it half-empty means you need to look on the bright side,
Is there a third, correct option?
Because, if there isn’t well,
My hands are tied.

I was thinking about how completely hypocritical the world was, how we say one thing and do another, or even say two things that are so contradictory you wonder why we have advice like that.
