Beneath the Bed

I've heard it said
That only monsters live under beds.
But for a day or two
I would like to hide
Among the dark
And dust
And lost slippers,
To get away from the world for a while.
Because maybe everyone's
A little too afraid
To look beneath the bed,
Too scared to find something
They did not expect to see.
