Rest in Peace

Rest in peace?
Yeah. . .right!
Six feet under
in the cold dark earth.
Protected only by
the small death
box coffin.
Not much protection
from the flesh eating
creatures who can't
wait to devoir your
slowly rotting body.
And who knows if you'll

some futuristic people.
Scraping away at your
bones to discover how we
Rest in peace?
Its just a myth
that the living people
made up so we don't feel
too bad when we bury
our friends.

I love the way you wrote this. I pretty much agree with everything you said. My favorite part is the last few lines about how we only say that so we don't feel bad burying our friends.

That's just the body. What about the soul? I think that's what they mean by Rest in Peace. :) just a guess though.
