Summary:

Otto is a WWI veteran who is aware that he is going to die so he convinces his graddaughter to bring him to the trenches he once fought in. As he finds the spot where his old friend was burried after death he is taken back ot the memory of his life with his friend at war.

I just wanted to say this book is really phenomenal. It is so well written and the connections between characters is so strong. This made me cry. Unfortunately in the middle of class. It was worth it.
