I Look Like a Bug

When I look in the mirror and see my new black and pink Juicy Couture glasses resting on my nose, I think that I look like a bug. A cute bug. I don’t mean it in a self-deprecating way; I just think that my new excessively round glasses make my eyes look bigger than I am used to seeing.

And I am not saying that I do not like the roundness of glasses either. It just happens to be a fact that my new glasses are much rounder than any of the other pairs of glasses that I have ever owned before. The frames surround my eyes in their entirety, so if I decided to do a very detailed eye make-up look, you could see every detail through my excessively large lenses. Believe me, I love them. My glasses seem to grow larger in size with every new pair that I get. I would like to say that this is because I have become more extroverted as I get older, so consequentially, I am more open to drawing attention towards my face. This is of course, just a coincidence and not the real reason. The real reason is much less philosophical. My style has just changed as I grow older. However, as I grow older, I can see the parallels between my personality and my glasses frames. Someone once told me that if I were an animal, I would be a snail. An adorable, geeky snail. It wasn’t mean in a rude way, but as a compliment. I took it as a compliment, because I think that the assessment is accurate. So, when I wear my new glasses and look in the mirror, I think that I look like a cute, nerdy bug in my new glasses, and I am perfectly okay with that.
