I don’t mean to point fingers, but I was perfectly content.

Even though we are physically distant from each other, our unbreakable friendship remains.

Or so I thought.

In my eyes, all the memories and love keep me close to you. 

I don’t need a reminder of our connection.

So, how could you?

Your emotions have sent a shock through my body.

All the jealousy and annoyance radiate off you. 

Black and red in your eyes. 

So intense I may even mistake it for hatred. 

I don’t understand.

Did I do something wrong?

How can I be better?

How could someone so close to me feel so far? 

Did our friendship change with time or are we just different now? 

How do I get it back?

My frustration boils over.

Sympathy turns to hostility. 

It was so good in the beginning.

But, it is like a rainbow disappearing into the darkness.

My entire childhood was a waste.

All the playdates and sleepovers, all for nothing. 

Precious time spent together, ending with pain. 

How do I get it back?

The truth is brutal. 

And, I can’t.
