Salt and Sugar

My father’s humor is like a prick to the skin, felt upon delivery. A darker side one wouldn’t expect from a groomed, well mannered businessman. To the sensitive, his humor is a kick to the stomach, breathtaking, offensive, and unwanted. But if reviewed, the craftsmanship and creativity shine through the darkness. My mother’s humor is a puppy, wide eyed and innocent, running aimlessly in all directions. The jokes never cease, even during serious situations, they flow like a paper boat tumbling down a river. My parents’ humor is salt and sugar, opposite ingredients mixed together, they create one delicious cookie.
