The Definition of You

There are times,

When you're brought down,

When the world feels like it's crashing down on you,

You try to hold up the ceiling,

But nothing seems to stay put.

There are flames roaring at you every moment,

And it feels like there's no place to run,

No place to hide,

And you feel broken underneath.

You try to breathe under your breathe,

You try to change yourself,

But why damage yourself,

When its not even you......

Don’t you find it odd,

Because I find it Crazy, Crazy, Crazy,

How you think they can control you, control you,

When they put themselves down,

And they try to pull others down with you.

It’s kinda crazy, crazy, crazy,

What their tryna do to you,

And I think its about time I let you know,

That you can’t tame them down.

You can’t try to rule them,

Because baby you barely know them,

You barely know anything,

You think you really know them,

But lets be honest,

You're just a girl who’s afraid of your own shadow.

You try to hide your tears with anger,

You push all your issues on others,

You never care about anybody else,

Only yourself,

You can’t trust anyone because you're too afraid...

They won’t gain your trust.

So, you push, push, push,

All your issues in the trash,

And, you dump, dump, dump, it on somebody else,

And you fight, fight, fight for the issues to never be put back on you,

But no matter what you try to do,

It still is going to come back on you.

You try to delete everything in your mind,

You try to patrol your heart and soul,

From danger that ureks your way,

But its difficult when your world is crashing down on you.

And it feels like you’re being watch by paparazzi,

And no matter how many mistakes you try to portray;

They always find a way to haunt you back at stake,

And it never feels fare,

Anymore.

So you try, try, try,

To burn, burn, burn everything down in the dust,

And you try, try, try to erase every mistake,

But in reality,

Your only erasing,

Only burning,

Only destroying,

The definition of you.

The author's comments:
For the past couple of weeks I have been thinking about myself. I have been falling apart, melting away, about my past. And being thrown off that thinking if all the bullying and past that I had I could delete in my life, I would be able to become a better version of the newer me. A person that I would like to be. But after doing that I realized that deleting my past didn't make me a better person, it made me weaker. Because your past is what makes you, you. Both the positives and the negatives, and nothing is going to undefined for me. So this poem goes to all the teenagers that are trying to figure out the real them.
