As we approached the planet, our hearts filled with dread. We were too late.
The planet was in shambles, fire licked the sides of century old buildings and ashes blew in the breeze. The dark shadows cast from the ships flying above soon went away as the enemy disappeared. We knew we had lost. We knew we had fallen. All that was left were the skeletons of our past. While we walked through the hollow streets, we heard a cry from under the rubble. We lifted the hot brick from the ground and found a little girl. I gave her my jacket and realized that all hope was not lost, that all hope was indeed restored. We would win this war whether it was the last thing we did.
