Imperfections

Mistakes deserve to be corrected, and Damien was a mistake. He expected a package to be waiting for him when he came down to the office. Instead, they ushered him into the principal’s office.

“Damien, do you know why you’re here today?”

“No sir.”

“You called a boy cute, Damien.”

“And?”

“Most people around here do not approve of homosexuality, so we must ask you to cease this behavior.”

“Yes...sir…”

When he got home his mother beat him until he fell to the ground in tears. She turned to leave.

“I didn’t raise you to be a f***** Damien.”

For a long time I've been made fun of and rejected for my so-called 'differences'. I wrote 'Imperfections' to express my feelings toward such unaccepting behavior. I never want someone to feel like they do not matter. We are not mistakes.
