They are the only ones who annoy me. I am the only one who quiets them. Five barking dogs with soft hair and pointy teeth like mine. Five who do not live here but are here. Five raggedy furballs released by the city. From our room, we can hear them, but Mommy just sleeps and doesn’t stop this barking.
Their barking is loud. They send vicious barks beneath our window. They bark loud and they bark quiet and fill the sound between our waxy ears and scratch the door with sharp paws and never quit their barking. This is how they bark.
Let five forget his objective for barking, they’d all roar like lions in a zoo, each with their paws aside the other. Bark, bark, bark they do when I sleep. They annoy.
When I am too tired and too lazy to let in, when I am a busy thing against so many dogs, then it is I let them in. When there are none left to let inside on this yard. Five who passed despite medicine. Five who bark and do not forget to stop. Five whose only reason is to bark and bark.
