Assassin’s Creed 3

Assassin’s Creed 3 provides players with an unmatched experience ranging from fighting alongside George Washington to base jumping of a high cliff to take the enemy by surprise. Anyone can enjoy the feeling of fighting for their prize position of freedom alongside characters like Sam Adams. Following the yearly release pattern for the AC games this one shows the most improvement and change in gameplay and format standing alone in the series. These new controls give the game a much more fluid feel then the others and lets you have more control over your character. All in all AC3 is a refreshing difference from what we are used to in action games.

In video games we are used to choppy graphics with distorted faces and little emotion. However, Assassins Creed gives you graphics and sound that make you shut everything else out and focus on the task at hand. The sound of a thunderstorm one time in the game got me to think it was actually raining outside. You can tell every emotion on every face in this game. Throughout the years of conflict and anger the faces look like that of a baseball fan when an ump just called strike three in the dirt. The sound is like being right in the middle of a bustling colonial market with merchants angered at British taxes. The sound and picture in AC3 are unmatched and can only be outdone by being part of the revolution yourself.

The controls are not hard at all to pick up and flow very smoothly. The games in the series always played fluently yet some sequences in the game and are prolonged and you are only thinking of when it will be over. Yet some provide constant action and easily make up for the duller parts in the game. The length is appropriate integrating the fact there are tons of side missions and optional objectives to complete and collectibles to find. This game simply has a way of making you want to come back for more. From running between volleys of musket fire to escaping an enemy platoon on horseback the game is paced perfectly to get you to come back eager to play.

Assassins Creed 3 provides hours of side missions and optional objectives that propel players to not put the controller down. There is a series of naval missions that the player has the option of doing that gives the series a refreshing experience differing from the familiar ground combat. Add on content is coming out for this game. They are in the process of making a 3-part series that gives a campaign providing a story of what would happen if George Washing ton had excepted the offer given to him to become the king of America. This will keep players tied over until the release of the next game in October. Not much is known about the upcoming sequel but if it keeps going on the track that it has been then this game will be even more successful.

In conclusion, AC3 exceeds the standards for this genre with its stunning graphics and compelling story. Despite some parts of the game being rather dull, it provides a dynamic conflict corresponding with the events of the American Revolution. I would give the game a 9.5/10 because the story keeps you wanting to play no matter how boring it gets and the emotions shown on characters faces make you feel like they are real people and you are there with them. If you are looking for a top notch action game, Assassins Creed 3 is for you. Nothing will get your blood pumping like fighting for our most prized possession.
