A long time ago (2008) in a galaxy far, far away (Lucas arts studios). A game called THE FORCE UNLEASHED was created. It was an action game, intended for all gaming systems (Including PS2) and it gave you full mastery over the force. Well, that was the plan anyway. What was intended to be a breakthrough in modern gaming turned into just another hack and slash video game with some small differences. Exhibit A: The graphics were better than any ever seen before in a star wars game.(Except for the Playstation2 version. LORD OF THE RINGS: THE THIRD AGE has better graphics than this, and that game is from 2005!) Exhibit B: The artificial intelligence was a breakthrough. Stormtroopers would grab onto things if you plucked them off the ground.(Again, not in the PS2 version, which, might I add is the only version I have.) Exhibit C: You get to "be the boss". Which can be fun. (The PS2 version got this one right. Thank goodness!) The boss fights can also be fun. But they eventually just turn into repetitive hacking and slashing. Trust me. If you want a good dueling experience, pop in STAR WARS: EPISODE III: THE VIDEO GAME. (That game rules!) Among the other things going for this game are the characters, such a Kota, the drunken jedi master, and Starkiller, the protagonist. The story, which is an interesting take on the struggle between turning to the dark side and surrendering yourself to the light. (Even if the choice at the end is a little to obvious. If you want a game with really deep choices, play KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC.) Also the voice acting is spot on. You'll love hearing the Emperor's low menacing voice. (He's actually voiced by the same guy as Starkiller!) In conclusion,
The Force Unleashed is, besides the lousy graphics on the PS2 which really could've been better, the not-so-great AI, and repetitive gameplay, a fairly good game.
