I love BBC's modern-day adaptation of Arthur Conyan doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Before I talk about this tv show, you should know this: I am a cumbercookie (benedict cumberbatch fan- [cumber] cookies make a [cumber] batch). Some of you probably think i've lost my mind but many of you will know about fandom names such as this one.

I am aware that the majority of teenink members/readers are based in America so as a Brit I am not sure if the programme is as well-known/popular with you. However this is one of my favourite TV shows ever so I shall begin! I was quite young when I watched Sherlock for the first time, so understandably I got a bit confused and lost in the intricate plot however when I was maybe 14 years old, I rewatched this phenomenon and was enthralled. The intellectualism of this show made it a perfect watch for the whole family even though my mum isn't a fan of suspenseful things; Sherlock is a bit of a mish-mash of genres - mystery being the most ovious.

The thing I love about Sherlock is that the characters evolve so much throughout the series' and whilst the series' are short (unfortunately a meer 3 episodes each), the episode legnths almost turn them into minature films. My favourite consistent characters would have to be Sherlock (oviously) and Lestrade whom I think is so sweet to deal with sherlock's sociopathic persona and still be reliable and trustworthy. I think he is one of the underapreciated characters in the show; he can be whiney but he is truley sherlock's friend.

Sherlock's friendships are another interesting topic, he occasionally claims things like "I don't have friends" and perhaps at one point (before he met John Watson) this was true. In the first episode his sociopathic nature shined through when Molly attemted to ask him out. He was rude and ungrateful for Molly right up until the episode where he almost lost everything (The Reichenback fall). Many people "ship" John and Sherlock, now 'many people' possibly includes me, their friendship was always embellished with hints of romance - anyone can find a fan-made video proving the connection just by searching 'Johnlock' (john qnd sherlock's ship-name) online. However Mary Morse makes that possibility unlikely. Most people like Mary, personally I do not, from the first time Sherlock met Mary "Liar" came up in the tag/gimmic things. Also I did not appreciate her agreeing with John that she was "the best thing that could have happened to [him]". When we uncover more about Mary (mostly due to Magnussen), I like Mary even less although most people like her more probably because an assassin fits in with the context better.

Villains are another great topic, many of the villains only made appearances in their own episodes, however everyone's favourite villain was in or linked to a lot more of the episodes, of course I am talking about Moriarty. Moriarty is perhaps Sherlock's match and he nearly brought down Sherlock. We thought Moriarty was over for a number of episodes but at the end of the latest series, we find out that he's back. I haven't listed many negatives other than my distaste for Mary Morse but I quite honestly don't have any.
