October sky is a wonderful film, which emphasizes the importance of following your dreams, no matter how impossible they might seem. This emphasis is mostly portrayed through the main character in the movie, Homer Hickam. The actor who played Homer Hickam - Jake Gyllenhaal – did a very good job of playing his role and depicting a very important theme in the movie. I personally think that it must take lots of guts and practice to play the main character of any film, because the main character of any movie can sometimes be the cause of the movie being a hit or a flop. If the main character has good acting skills, then the movie may be a pleasurable one to watch, however if the main character cannot act well, the movie will not be such a great one.
