She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was the faintest scent of a cactus flower, the flitting shadow of an elf owl. We did not know what to make of her. In our minds we tried to pin her to corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew.

We all know how hard it is to start a new school, let alone be the weirdest kid in the town. In Jerry Spinelli's Stargirl, when Stargirl firsts comes to Mica High she

doesn't fit in at all with the other students. She sings to them on their birthdays, she plays the ukulele, and has a pet rat! Soon everyone starts hating on her. Everyone but Leo Borlock.
Stargirl and Leo have a very interesting and compelling relationship. It is different from your everyday fairytale. It is full with warmth, and love.
Stargirl, with over 8 awards won, is an uplifting and powerful story that is great for all readers. A book filled with hope, passion, and love, Spinelli has yet again created a marvelous piece of work.
