I just recently finished reading the book Uglies by Scott Westerfield. I felt the book was very good, and I am very much indulged in the second book of the series. The book is about a girl named Tally Youngblood, who lives in this futuristic city where when people turn 16, they get an operation that makes them absolutely beautiful. Tally, and almost everyone else in this world, see nothing wrong with that. Tally's new friend Shay, however, doesn't quite feel the same way. She thinks the operation is wrong, and runs away from it. Tally, is then told by the government that unless she gives up her friend's whereabouts, she will never get the operation to become a "Pretty" as they call it in her world.
