The first book of the Percy Jackson series, the Lightning Thief, is about a dyslexic boy who lives in New York with his mother, gets in trouble a lot, and has a horrible step-father. He always gets expelled from every school he attends, and has to find a new one. Weird things happen to him a lot, and he soon figures why. As it turns out, he is not human, but a Half blood, a son of the mighty Greek gods. During the summer he is placed in a special camp where half-bloods can stay out of danger. Soon he finds out he is the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. He is assigned a quest, where he must find Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt after falsely being accused of stealing it. Along with his friends, Annabeth and Grover, they go on a dangerous adventure, where they nearly lose their lives. I strongly recommend this book to those who enjoy adventure, suspense, and great friendship.
