The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
If you read The Series of Unfortunate Events, and liked the plot, then you will like The Hunger Games. This story is gut-wrenching, and keeps you on the edge of your seat while you try to predict what will happen next. During the story, a girl named Katniss Everdeen bravely volunteers to be a tribute in the next hunger games, to save her sister. Katniss promises her sister that she will return after the games, which is unlikely to happen. The chances are slim and in order to win she must survive the other twenty-three tributes trying to kill her and possibly even kill her own friend. Luckily she knows how to hunt with a bow and arrow which could just be the key she needs to winning. In the arena, she is brave, quick, wise, and independent during the games to make sure she wins and returns back to her sister and mother.
