Why? Why not?

The Boys War

The Boys War is a great book made even more interesting by the amount of writings from the boys in the civil war. It is about the boys, aged ten to sixteen, in the civil war. It is about how and why they signed up, to the way they felt about the amount of gore the saw and experienced. Mostly its about the war and all their experiences. Even though they are marching all day with dust on their faces and little food, like young Confederate soldier John Delhany, they are still fighting on.

Jim Murphy did a great job making this book. From days of research he made us all ask the question, was it really worth it? Was it worth it to go to war at a young age to fight your brother, to live with barely any food for years, hiking then fighting day and day out? That’s a question that can only be answered in this book.
