Is it worth living through abuse? Good Night, Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian is a heart warming story about a previously abused child named Willie. Another character is Mr. Tom, and this book describes how they bond when Willie is evacuated and sent to live with him, during World War II.

I really enjoyed reading Good Night, Mr. Tom. Mostly I liked this book because I have always liked reading realistic fiction. The author, Michelle Magorian, did a fantastic job of making her characters dynamic, descriptive, and a little abnormal. For example Willie changes for the best throughout the book. This personally helped me get a mental picture of what was going on. I also liked the realism behind the plot, and how I could relate to the theme of ‘identity’.

I would suggest this novel to all young adults, adults, and elders because it was a great book, but the interesting accents may be confusing for younger reading. Well, at least I was a slight bit confused!
