The article titled “ We Need Less Homework,” written by Aidan Robinson, talks about how homework is unnecessary. This piece left me feeling confused because I think the author missed a vital reason homework is given.
I agree that many times students are heavily over worked and feel too stressed by homework. I do, however, feel that homework is a necessity. Assignments in high school teach responsibility and good work ethic that will prepare you for college and the rest of your life. Although many feel that homework is a “massive struggle,” in the long run, it prepares you for more important challenges in life.
Nevertheless, I liked the author’s ideas on how to improve education in America such as “having a standard 75 minutes or recess a day.” I appreciated this point: “when students have recess, it makes them happier and more willing to learn.”
