The writing titled “The C-word,” written by Arianna Chen, talks about getting diagnosed with cancer. Her writing was an eye-opener to me. Reading this got me thinking that we shouldn’t make excuses; we just need to do it. Reading this really opened my mind and made me think in a different perspective. Arianna’s writing made me realize my life is valuable. We don’t know what could change in life, but we can’t use it as an excuse. I couldn’t imagine being told I had cancer and think I need to cry because my parents are crying, not because I scared. She also talks about doing different things because she felt like she needed to; “I laughed a lot even though things weren’t very funny.” I feel like she felt the need to do certain things, even if she didn’t want to. She wrote, “Once the news hits you, you notice things.” Her writing makes me want to think differently and view life in a new perspective.
