This story just does to show you that no matter how messed up you think your job is; there can still be some good parts to it. And that being nice to people even though they may be getting on your nerves, it could pay off in the end. In some cases like the one in this the person literally was paid, not in money but in chocolate. This showed that the person being rung up by the cashier was really pleased with their service done. In this story Laura works at a twelve items or less isle in a department store. Someone one day decided to come to her stand while knowingly having more than twelve items. Laura doesn't really make a fuss about it. She quickly scans the items and more people move on.
