War's Silent Hostage

This is a poem about how a guy would like to talk about the war, and how it isn't right. How it is affecting the world and everyone's live, and how it isn't right. A certain part of the poem means a lot to me:
*I want to talk about the man I never saw cry
until he put on that heavy jacket and tan boots
I want to talk about
how even brave soldiers are scared.*
This part of the poem stuck out to me a lot because he is right people risking their lives are scared, but still they fight. Why?
