I wake up and life is great
“Today’s the day. I will not hate”
And then the day creeps along
It’s afternoon now night won’t be here for long
It’s evening now, but I’m still fine
No need to worry the day is still mine
It’s nine o’clock, ten, and now half past eleven
My thoughts are racing at a speed of ten times seven
Why does this only happen at night
This happens to everyone, right
Maybe if I just go to sleep
I roll over and tell my brain not to make a peep
I drift away from this manic state
I wake up and life is great…

I have anxiety, and I struggle a lot with it at night. I wrote this in the middle of the night actually when my mind was racing so face I could barely focus. This piece show the struggles that I face throughout the day dreading the night.
