The Downside of Being a Kid

There is a task that I must commit to
  And if I don’t I’ll be in a pickle
But the day I do it is the day I rue
If only it hurt less than a prickle
It is not as easy as one would think
To follow rules in which I must abide
Assigned by a leader who won’t even blink
Before yelling such words so rude and snide
The consequences of my acts are grim
But with a few sneaky tricks up my sleeve
I will be free to go out on a whim
And being grounded won’t be a pet peeve
But, truly, I am at fault for my doom
If only I’d chosen to clean my room
