Homage to My Left Hand
  Good for opening beer bottles,
  but not for closing them
  Steady on ivory, but not when clutching a pencil.
  Coordinated enough to form bar chords,
  but not enough to color pictures neatly.
  Strong enough to lift a weight,
  but not to deliver a slap.
  Able to snap with ease,
  but not to tug a flower from the ground.
  Steady enough to eat rice, but not soup.
  Elegant with painted nails;
  not so good for nail painting.
  Fine for braiding silky chestnut hair;
  drags smudges across the page when writing.
