"Nobody can hurt me without my permission"- Mahatma Gandhi

The city stood upon the hill back then
The people there lived happy, peaceful lives
The children laughed and played, so did the men.
They all would gather; husbands, kids, and wives

The sun was shining, warming land below.
The men, away at work, while women cook.
The country's public, cheerful and aglow.
Some children getting lost within a book.

But darkness soon arrived, and with it, death.
The mound erupted, burning, the land's shape.
The ashes smothered every last, small breath.
It's nation had no warning nor escape.

And yet it's people did not know the cost,
Pompeii, it had become forever lost.

Pompeii has always been a interest to me. The eerie feeling that a whole community was literally just buried under ash.
