Whenever my emotions are at their worst,I write a verse
I scribble about how life is great and there no need for outburst
A sonnet is like a massage
I store my words in stanzas like a garage

This little thing called poetry has been legit
I thought it made me a misfit now it works to my benefit
It used to be a hobby now a career in it I'm eyeing
I won the Black History poem contest without even trying

Poetry has become a subject that I frequently mention
Poetry prolongs my happiness What a joyful extension
Poetry has contributed to my boost in self-esteem
Poetry will have everyone saying "We love you Kadeem!"

Poetry is not my bestfriend that title belongs to a very special person
Poetry & I are synonomous like my name is in its definition
