I feel like I’m searching for something but it avoids my eyes
I ask what it is, but it ignores my cries.
I wonder what it is, but at night,
The not knowing fills me with fright.
For years the answer I did seek
To this wondering, this something that made me a freak.
Many questions I asked, but no answer I got
The less I knew, the more I fought.
On and on I looked for the answer that’d set me free
But always the answer eluded me.
The something continued and the answer did hide
And the search was quite a bumpy ride.
Now I’m old and about ready to die
As you see, in my death bed I lie.
Now I know through my pain and strife
What I never found was the meaning of life.
