The Great Fall

April 30, 2012
By Anonymous

A million fires scorch deep within,
Voices echo out a thousand wails;
All of them more frantic than the last.
Great symbols of power and dominance
All reduced to nothing but searing pain.
The stench of brimstone wafts through the air
As if the Devil himself has emerged.
Fear slowly blankets the once proud city
As uncertainty becomes certainty
In the face of never ending strife.
The air irritates the eyes and lungs
But not as much as the scene burns the soul.
Life has been changed and altered forever
For those within the big city limits.
