I live in reason, reason lives in me.
This is because there is no home for mutts.
Whether it be the forest or the sea,
but honestly, I'd rather live in huts.

My Earth is an extremely wide expanse,
I will walk in the sand until I die.
Stop and look around you, sir, fix your stance.
Spread your majestic wings and fly up high

Who am I? I have got nothing to lose.
Let me walk alone and stand in the rain,
my home is no hut, it is where I choose.
Step back, friend, and try not to feel the pain.

My father once said, "Home is where you are."
Cradle heart in hand, love is not too far.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece while in a class called Inquiring Minds, which focused mainly on writing and reading.
In the class we learned the Iambic Pentameter system and the format of a sonnet, this is my first one.
