Petal by Petal the flowers life goes
tear by tear my life-long love tares away
as one nears death the other beauty shows
It's scarlet face shining in the suns ray
why my darling has shunned my affection
gradually worse as his sight grew dim
for I have been there through desperation
nursing, healing, loving, watering him
but there are still more years in these young bones
there is still moist soil in his broken pot
as the sun restores and he pays his loans
he swore he would not leave me in this plot
I should have known he was meant to provide
He's left a seedling growing by my side

The author's comments:
This poem is actually about a girl and boy that found out they love each other while young and wanted to stay together forever. All of a sudden he got sick and got rushed to the hospital. He started pushing away from her, shunning her love, while she didn't know why and cursed the world. Finally one day he told her that he would never leave her side. She didn't understand at first, but after awhile she realized that she would always have half of him with her. She was pregnant.

Thank you. This was the beginning of my work. I love flowers and I love love. Decided to mix my loves for the first thing I would publish. I appreciate the comment and the support!

I really like the poem as it shows thge contrasts between life and death through imagery with flowers. It actually feels like a teenage lover story. A sad one. Reminds me of a bit of The Fault In Our Stars except both sexes switched roles and their love blossomed in their late childhood.
