It all started in May when the Mexican war began.
Some extended a helping hand
While others turned and ran,
President Polk was ready for the war
Which lead other Americans ready to,
Many were hard core, and thought this land should be for slavery, and not looking for the new door.
Who would win…and who would lose, who would stir up the biggest brew
How long would this war last?
Who will win?
Looking back on the past
I wonder how we all settled in
To our nation we added a new state.
It’s now called modern day Texas this win was our fate.
