Silly Sonnets

I do not like writing sonnets; they're dumb-
The rhyme scheme is impossible to use.
Who cares that Shakespeare used these poems well,
Iambic Pentameter I don't choose.

I understand the stressed and unstressed marks,
But their purpose I really just can't see;
Poems are not supposed to be like that.
They are better if they are simply free.

My teacher said sonnets are like a horse
That clops its hooves up and down on the ground.
Yet still I wonder what's the point of this
If horse's hooves don't really make that sound

These sonnet things are truly not for me;
The very thought of them just makes me groan.
It is unnatural to write that way.
I doubt if I shall ever write my own.

I agree in excess! Sonnets are ridiculously painful to write, in my opinion. You, however, did a remarkable job with it. ;) Keep it up! (okay, maybe not the sonnet thing, but writing in general!)

Insult my clothes, I say, “Okay, thanks for the compliment.”
Insult the way I look, I say, “Thanks for notifying me.”
Mock me and say riding isn’t a sport, and I’ll say,”You say that ’cause you can’t ride.” But before you make fun of my horse, make sure you have “911″ on your speed dial.

That was awesome! :)

Thank you for the nice comment and rating! I actually didn't write it for class, I just thought it would be funny to kind of mock the whole thing xD

Let me take a little guess...you wrote this for class. Well, even though you don't like sonnets and never will write one on your own, I love this and should like to at least see more of different styles than sonnet if that best suites you :)
