If she desired to go, she might- the nuisance of her presence outweighs the gratification to be derived from tormenting her! ~Heathcliff, Wuthering Heights

She’s looking at me, her eyes so expectant.
She has no idea I’m looking beyond her.
Inside her, her longing is taking its toll on her mind
And it’s breaking her heart, so expectant.

And now I can see in her eyes that she sees mine are
Vacant. She cries, her eyes no longer yearning
For love for affection. For now she sees clearly,
Though her eyes are clouded by tears, by despair.

And she says to me, “Tell me, for I cannot see, why I
Want to remain with a countenance, jaded, and
Hardened by cynical solipsism. For how can I?”
She gazes, those eyes full of hope.

And her credulous eyes, by my apathy slain,
Have always been lovingly looking in vain.

For Monique, you are my closest friend and you understand me more than anyone in the world. And I'm sorry for that.
