Past made Present
The hallway is dark and quiet

As I walk around the corner I see a package on the floor

It has been there for quite some time

It is old, battered, and torn

Stepping closer I read the label

With a start I see my name

Turn to set the package on a nearby table

Seeing the return address my face colors with shame

It was a present from a lover

 That never came

Even though I now love another

Those old feelings are still the same

 Open the package slowly

 Not sure what to expect

Stare at the simple box in front of me

As though it were a secret I should protect

Within the package is a small red box

 Containing a necklace

 I thought Id lost

Found for a reason, this wasn't here by chance

I'll wear it always to be a reminder of my past romance
