The Maiden's Hand

Two knights watch the maiden fair
Heads with black and golden hair
The maiden knows why they stare
For one will have her hand.
Dressed in chain mail
Armed with swords
Joust will come for these two lords
One with strikes; the other, words
For the maiden's hand.
Mount your ride
And step aside
One spoke truth, the other lied
For all this the maiden cried
Who shall have her hand?
The maiden knows
not which she loves
And prays to the Lord
of heaven above
Then she tosses one her glove;
The maiden gave her hand.
