Do you know of the stars' harsh, lonely pain?
You know, the kind that you feel in your chest.
The kind of pain that some live for; some gain.
It may be smothered when you do your best.
It mingles in every other feeling:
Determination, anger, even fear.
All the emotions that fill your being.
But it still keeps people from getting near.
The stars are just like us in a few ways.
They grow, shine, they fade, and then go out.
They hurt when happiness goes away.
Just like us humans, they can even pout.
But in the end, they are just like us - they die.
And sometimes, we never, ever say 'bye.

This is a great poem! You did a good job to avoid the usual cliche of comparing stars by adding something more, ie, emotion. I'll have to read more by you! By the way, could you check out another poem I've submitted, "Let Them"? Also, just so you know, I put up a post on "Lantern," explaining what I meant by it. Seeing as you're the one who asked, I thought I'd let you know. Thanks!
