in, out.

we use our own words as a weapon

we use these words as a form of aggression

we hold our phrases against one's throat

not thinking about the things we quote

people enjoy the way that one suffers

waiting for the moment to see when they buffer

hurting the people that they think should change

killing these people just from calling them strange

in, out.

we keep these words flowing

without the price of knowing

not seeing what these words can do

to the people who aren’t exactly like you

in, out.

to me, this poem represents society and the way people are so quick to put others down for just being who they are.
