Nothing I do is ever enough

I always live in someone else’s shadow

My true self I bury down below

I am carved from pain

I am misunderstood

I would open my mouth to complain

If only I could

I wish to lay my secrets bare

I want to be loved for being me

After my struggles, I really don’t care

I’m tired of this cruelty

I can’t forget the promises I’ve made

Even as I begin to fade
