"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?" Lucas Scott, "One Tree Hill"

It’s coming

It’s coming

It’s chasing

It’s chasing

When will it stop?

The creatures in my head

They leave me feeling dead

One night in the dark

And they make their mark

Is it me?

Am I too weak?

People walk by

As if I’m just an ordinary guy

The things in my head

Have begun to spread

Somebody save me!

I’m lost in this darkness

Waiting for someone to hear my plea

Before these monsters leave me heartless

Run! Run!

Fight! Fight!

Two voices

One choice

Time is ticking

Before I’m no longer living

By then the monsters will have won

You’re this! You’re that!

Day after day

I become convinced that I’m just an insignificant little brat

These monsters always comin’ out to have a little chat

Stop! Stop!

You’ve already done enough

Despite these cries,

My mind replies,

Who’s gonna stop me?

You? What a joke!

Somebody save me!

I’m lost in this darkness

Waiting for someone to hear my plea

Before these monsters leave me heartless

The author's comments:

As a kid, I suffered from mental issues, such as anxiety. I wanted to write about them and share my experience. To those out there sufffering, don't give up! You're not alone.

The poem is short for a song, but I wrote it keeping in mind that it should be sort in a musical sort of way. I hope you enjoy it.
