S to the A to the D D A M
Iraqi leader who was causing mayhem
Had his fun, tried to run, but no one could save him
To obey him was crazy
And suicide was a maybe
As a baby, he was raised in
The quiet town of Tikrit
Soon he found a crowd to stick with
And he was hungry, ready to dine
Rose to power in 79’
In his prime, he defined the essence of cruel and evil
Tension and upheaval
In a country already feeble
Built on oil, petroleum, diesel
He was lethal not peaceful
Like an eagle, he soared above his people
Who were forced to cower
As soon as he rose to power
He devoured
Money, supplies, and earnings
Funding his executions and his burnings
His people were slowly learning
That the verdict was worse if you were Kurdish or Shia
Man I would hate to be ya’
And the day came in ‘03
When the U.S. was low key
Gonna invade the ci-ty
Of Baghdad
With packed bags
Saddam ran
He disappeared for days and months
Lived in fear for days and months
Grew a beard for days and months
Shed a tear?- Not even once!
After all the hours of research
After all the time that we searched
Key words gave us info he was hiding in a hole
And so the tale is told
And there’s nothing left for mystery
That December will be remembered in American history
Because a vacuum was created
Poor Iraq again invaded
By terrorist groups of many places
But ISIS suffices to be labeled a modern crisis
I hope you learned what Operation Red Dawn about
Cuz' DJ Saddam Swag is officially out

The author's comments:

I was reading about Saddam Hussein in an article that was passed out in history class. The Broadway hit "Hamilton" showed the world that it was possible to blend history and hip-hop which is what I attempted in this piece. This is an original rap about the life and demise of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
