You look at me, all you see,
is a face conflicted with emotion.
You look at him, just a sin,
disguised in a clever form.
You look at her, you're concerned,
she looks as troubled as you'd think she'd be.
Look at her, Look at him, Look at me... is that all you see?
Well, look within,
free of sin, he's the most catholic boy you'll ever meet.
Look at her, just a bird,
trying desperately to flap her wings.
Look at me, just a bee,
trying to earn my stripes.
No, we're not as we seem,
to you all we are, are troubled teens.
Well, look within, look within, deep within.
Your eyes might be open, but, you aren't seeing, who we are, our whole being.
Your ears may be alert, but, you haven't heard, the voices of the lost and burned.
Your heart may be beating, but, you haven't felt, a love so special it cannot be held.
Look not into our eyes, but, into our soul.
Hear not with your ears, but, with your soul.
Feel not with your touch, but, with your heart.
Open your mind, open your heart.
Look within... Look within... Look within...
You look at him, just an angry, grumpy old man.
You look at her, she's a nerd, rather spend fifty bucks on books than designer jeans.
Look at me, do you see,
a person who's not afraid to be?
Well, look within,
Just a friend, he's a soul who has learned of love and loss, who no longer loves because of his loss.
She is smart, and intelligent, she someday wishes to write a book.
Would you have known that at first looks?
Look within... Look within... Look within... Deep within...

The author's comments:
I wrote this, because people are too quick to judge someone by their looks. They won't take the time to get to know them, they'll just assume they are how they look, and that's not always the case. I hope people will read this, and start to look at everyone around them in a different way. I hope whoever reads this will learn to not judge anyone by their looks anymore, but will take the time to look within and see the person underneath the skin.
