Your Letter

I got a letter form you today
It read "hey girl we should set a date
To meet it's been much too long since I've
Seen your face and I miss
Having you around
You were always there for me when
I was feeling down
And lately things haven't been going my way
So what do you say we set a date
So what do you say?"

What can I say other than okay
Even in school I never told you what was on my mind
I only tagged along and let you burn me out
You used me more than anybody knew
You used me just to glorify you
And it was always hey okay
No it never really was okay

You just hung up the phone
Somebody more worth your time was
Waiting on the other line
Somebody who you can gush to
About how much bluer the sky is when it's above you
Choke down the tears you just shared with me
Choke down the feelings that you can't let anybody else see
The people who must be better than me
Hide the you that only vents to Miss Invisibility

What can I say other than okay
Even in school I never told you what was on my mind
I only tagged along and let you burn me out
You used me more than anybody knew
You used me just to glorify you
And it was always hey okay
No it never really was okay

I was always just your Rhody
Lugging around feelings that you'd share with me
Secrets that you couldn't live without
Things that you weren't willing to live down
While you went out and partied my advice away
I was struggling with
Deciphering why we worked this way
Wondering why I cared like I did
I was never your best friend never a favorite
I was always the third wheel rolling
Forced into a smile when I wanted to scream

Scream wake up! wake up! wake up!
Can't you see everything that I've done
Over the years has been out of pure love
Wake up! Wake up! wake up!
I'm always the one saving who you have become
But I guess that's just what you expect now
You don't think twice about falling because
You know I'll catch you as long as I'm around

What can I say other than okay
Even in school I never told you what was on my mind
I only tagged along and let you burn me out
You used me more than anybody knew
You used me just to glorify you
And it was always hey okay
When won't it be okay
