i stood looking down at the city with shame and pitty
so my gaze went up and i begged for felicity and serenity
this isn't a story about equanimity
this is an athrocity unfortuneately

more time to think led me to the brink
so i wrote about it with my paper and ink
but with every word my heart began to sink
it could be over as quick as a wink if i chose to sever the link

the fact that pain and indifference filled my sould is incontrovertible
the way that i felt is uneffable
the way i reacted is reprehensible
the way it ended is almost regrettable because it seemed so insuperable

so i looked at the town with a frown on my face
down there would never be my place
maybe with a step i could find some grace
i didn't belong to all the disgrace
why should i be stuck in the same maze

i looked down and someone stopped me from hitting the ground
it was someone who agreed with the things that i found
it was someone who doesn't cease to astound

I really like the rhyme pattern you have used here. Unique and fun to read. :)
