Your Crystalline Eyes

I’m not into chasing rainbows
I fill up my own pot of gold
Shooting stars never hear my wishes
I’ve been keeping those in my heart
I don’t take my life for granted
There’s a reason that I’m still here
I’m sure
And now here comes love knocking
At my door

It’s not fair that these butterflies
Get to take control
Each time you say my name
It’s not fair that even with
All of my pride you can still
Drive me insane
With your crystalline eyes always
Reflecting devotion back at me
You don’t hide anything
You’ve handed me the key to what’s
Behind your crystalline eyes

I’ve never been one for the fairy tales
No once upon a time never was my style
Hard work and dedication
Are what my daddy taught me would
Make my life smile
I never worried about the boys
Getting cooties wasn’t my idea
Of a good time
But now babe the perfect fit of our hands together has got me
Thinking that maybe I’d like for you to be mine

It’s not fair that these butterflies
Get to take control
Each time you say my name
It’s not fair that even with
All of my pride you can still
Drive me insane
With your crystalline eyes always
Reflecting devotion back at me
You don’t hide anything
You’ve handed me the key to what’s
Behind your crystalline eyes

Blue as the sky
On that summer’s day
When fate lead me to you
And opened my heart
You are my shooting star
My ever radiant
Sunshine
I thought it’d be tough to let you in
But your patience and
Commitment warmed me just enough
To want to take a leap with us

So now I welcome these butterflies
That take control every time you
Look this way
And I don’t mind dropping my stubborn pride
‘Cause I know that I’m not going insane solo
With your crystalline eyes
Reflecting devotion back at me
You don’t hide anything
You’ve handed me the key to what’s
Behind your crystalline eyes

Blue as the sky
On that summer’s day
When fate lead me to you
And opened my heart
You are my shooting star
My ever radiant
Sunshine

I do like this, but I feel it should be under the Free Verse section. The wording does not really flow like a song, more like an outspoken poem. Eiither way, this is good.
