Walking downstairs
For a midnight snack;
Hearing sniffles
As I pass by my parents’ room.
I just keep walking,
Trying not to turn back.
See my daddy sleeping
Alone on the coach.
I start to ask questions
And think to myself.
Then, I find out answers
As all the walls crash down.
We’re being torn apart,
And no one’s saving us.
I want to run away,
But I can’t leave my momma now.

Your family isn’t a family anymore.
Your father is locked out from his own bedroom door.
Your brothers are struggling to stay strong.
Your mother cries herself to sleep all night long.

You think you’ve hit rock bottom.
But you just keep sinking further down.
You try to solve all your problems,
But you’re still getting pushed around.
It seems like no ones there for you,
But someone’s hidden right there.
I’ll always be here for you-
Even at rock bottom.

Every time I look at my mom,
I get this urge to cry.
When I look at my dad,
I get this fire in my eyes.
Wanting so much to help
But knowing there’s no hope.
Wishing on shooting stars
Doesn’t seem to work.
So I pray to God
For a miracle.
He will make things better
So they won’t get worse.
Put all my faith in Him
So He can make things right.
He’s my strength, my shield,
My friend for life.

This family can get through anything.
My father can fix almost everything.
My brothers will just keep getting stronger.
My mother will live happy ever after.
