"I'll never know myself like my scribbles seem to know me" - Hayley Reardon.

When I turned eight

I couldn’t hardly wait

To be the age I am today

And when I was thirteen

I couldn’t wait to be

"all grown up" or so it seemed

now I’m sixteen

and this isn’t what I dreamed

I’m still trapped in this house

I’ve still gotta watch my mouth

and I still haven’t been taken out

I still can’t drive a car

so I still can’t go far

and my only friend is still this guitar

This is the not so sweet

part of sixteen

Well the sad truth is

ignorance is bliss

'cause birthday candles don’t grant you any wish

money don’t grow on trees

you still fall and scrape your knees

but now there’s no one around to help you when you bleed

I know I’m sixteen

but I wanna go back to make believe

I’m still trapped in this house

I’ve still gotta watch my mouth

and I still haven’t been taken out

I still can’t drive a car

so I still can’t go far

and my only friend is still this guitar

This is the not so sweet

part of sixteen

I’ve had my share of fairytales but

I really thought this wasn’t one

I thought being sixteen meant being happy

but I was wrong, I was wrong

so now I’m sixteen

and I’m a little less naive

but

I’m still trapped in this house

I’ve still gotta watch my mouth

and I still haven’t been taken out

I still can’t drive a car

so I still can’t go far

and my only friend is still my guitar

This is the not so sweet

part of sixteen

not so sweet sixteen

It was four days before I turned sixteen, and I was just thinking about how I didn't feel any different. I had been dreaming about being sixteen literally since I was eight years old, and now that it was here... it just didn't feel any different.
